The St. Louis Blues are back to the ice to the next of their five-game road trip on Thursday night at Ottawa. They had a day or two to enjoy their 3-2 win over the Maple Leafs in Toronto. After tonight, theyll make the brief trip to Montreal to get a date using the Canadiens.
That the Islanders will be wrapped up at New York from the Islanders by the road trip two weeks afterwards. They wont play back in St. Louis till next Thursday night against the Canucks. Their street trip feels a good deal longer, as it will happen to be 12 times in between their last game in the home, which was their season opener.
The Blues are ideal on the street trip so far. Tonight will mark the third match of this year for the Senators. Last Saturday they started the year in Toronto, Then dropped a 4-1 decision against the Rangers.
Two games into the season and the Senators have had a lengthy break from activity. I wouldnt really like that after getting the season underway. I and I think most people would concur, once the legs start to become tired and weary, that it would be beneficial later in the summer. The Senators do not need to worry about a late playoff drive, so its all a moot point.
In any event, the Senators should be feeling extra tonight. Theyve had plenty of time. That really is actually the defending Stanley Cup Champions we are talking about, although there are not going to be some explanations for coming out flat.
St. Louis have earned a point in each of three games they have played, using their season opener against the Capitals the only loss so far. Theyll look to prevent an upset from the Sens tonight. Head under for our complimentary Blues vs. Senators select.
Despite the layoff, the Senators will give Craig Anderson the night off and visit the backup. Anderson is off to a shaky start to this summer, as he has published a 4.58 GAA and also 0.875 save percentage on 72 shots. He can be a scapegoat for the group in 2019-20, though. There are not too many goaltenders in the NHL whod find success in Ottawa. At some stage the defence must assist out the netminder and there is not a lot of it to be found in Ottawa.
The Senators finished dead last defensively a year ago. They let an average of 3.67 goals a game, which had been chiefly due to a poor blue line. Blame you want, however, the Senators were allowed per game. They had to manage an average of 35.7 shots each match plus also a plethora of scoring opportunities in front of the internet.
The entire year, it has been more of the exact same for the Sens to open. Ottawa have enabled 4.5 goals and 36 shots a match, so it is right back to that which they have been used to a year past. With no Erik Karlsson about the line, the Senators have looked completely lost and there are no indications it will get better to them.
This does not bode well against Jordan Binnington and the Blues defence. Expect the Blues to have the ability to get their offence tonight, then forcing the Senators to do a thing in the zone. The Senators obtained Nilsson from the Canucks last season, and everything considered, he played decently enough with a 2.90 GAA and also 0.914 save percent. Combined with the Canucks, Nilsson completed with a 2.97 GAA over this season.
They are likely to require a standout performance to have a shot at the front tonight. Fine will still result in some 3-1 or 4-1 loss for your Senators, although nilsson might have a fine game. The Sens are coming into this contest fresh off a break that is great. But, it will not matter in town ultimately with the Blues. Considering the cost of +125, the Blues are take a look in the puckline here.
