What a difference five weeks can create.
Had these positions run in October, the Sacramento Kings could have held among the smallest spots. They were a mess last year, and no one had hinted at breakout possible. Zach Randolph, who has not logged a second this year and has been traded afterward waived in February, paced that group together with 14.5 points per match.
But now, the Kings are making a case for the NBA to create a Most Improved Team award.

The latter is one of just 10 players averaging seven assists and 17 points. Marvin Bagley III and Harry Giles’ combo is filled with promise. Bogdan Bogdanovic’s game functions like tissue. Harrison Barnes is the jumbo needed.
The Kings have the wiggle room to buy this summer, although they will have to wait and see if this roster is what draws brokers. They do get dinged for not owning their forthcoming first-round pick, but that at least frees the franchise.
