What a difference five weeks can make.
Had these rankings run in October, the Sacramento Kings would have held among the smallest spots. They had been a mess that is 55-loss last season, and nobody had hinted at breakout potential. Zach Randolph, who has not logged a second this season and has been traded then waived in February, paced that group together with 14.5 points per match.
But now, the Kings are making a case for the NBA to make a Most Improved award.
Both Buddy Hield and De’Aaron Fox found methods to fast-forward their own development. The prior is a top-30 scorer and also top-five three-point shot. The latter is one of just 10 players averaging seven assists and 17 points. The combo of Harry Giles and Marvin Bagley III is filled with promise. The game acts of bogdan Bogdanovic like connective tissue. Harrison Barnes is the jumbo.
The Kings have the wiggle room to buy even though they’ll need to wait and see if this improving roster is what finally brings agents that are free to Sacramento. They do get slightly dinged for not owning their selection, but frees the franchise to make an all-out drive for the postseason.
