Martin Bakole broke Kevin Johnsons famous resistance to induce a stoppage of their veteran at Newcastle.
Even the heavyweight was forced to deal with a late reversal of opponent but Bakole produced pressure to become only the third person to stop his competition.
Johnson had taken Daniel Dubois the distance in a points loss last year and was pleased to stay as Bakole probed using a cluster of punches for openings tucked up with a casing.
However, the former world title challenger revealed signs of distress at the round, turning away after a sustained assault from Bakole, who started to land his own right hand.
Since his head jolted back to force the referees intervention, johnson shield could unravel in the fifth.
On the bill, Lawrence Osueke was forced to settle for a draw with Ricky Summers after a scrappy experience.
While Summers acquired a 96-95 dent in his own favour, osueke obtained a verdict from one of their judges, and the third made it a 95-95 draw.
In the evening, Kieron Conway floored Konrad Stempkowski on the road to a points success that was broad.
